Punk Punk Categories and Strategy Guide

Please ignore, consider only the main gameplay.

What is the Logic behind the Categories?

The key is that there are actually only 4 Categories. When you are looking at a room, think about it in this way:

1. Is there a clear common power source?

If so, you're looking for the type of power source. Steampunk has pipes to carry steam, Cosmopunk draws from something astral like solar wind, Solarpunk requires lots of sunlight.

2. Is it focused on technology without a clear power source?

Cyberpunk doesn't care where the power comes from, it cares about the technological innovations at work. These tend to be more focused on the punk and less on the aesthetic, thus the creation of "Technopunk".

3. Is it focused on a specific time in human history?

Stoneage to modern, the category "Erapunk" focuses on the when and the anachronisms of technology in that time. It doesn't care if you get your power from dinosaurs or power cells, it cares that this is the Rococo period. A key difference is the emphasis on power source. Steam and Silkpunk are soaked in their era and aesthetic, but they still care deeply about their power source.

4. Is it focused on a specific stylistic direction

"Aestheticpunk" subgenres generally do not care about the technology, era, or power source, let alone the "punk" motifs, of their origin. These are looks first, though that does not mean they do not have important themes to explore. They are more focused on situations, moments, or movements and often use "punk" as shorthand for a strongly themed world.

Additionally, Otherpunk exists for jokes or things that haven't (or wont) be(en) added to the game
